How do you buy cookie cutters

When you want to form cookies into various shapes, it is much simpler and better as well as faster to do so when you have a cookie cutter. The cookies turn out precise and in different patterns – however complicated they could be. Cookie cutters are made of a variety of materials. It can be made of wood, metal or plastic.

Custom cookie cutters which are made of metal can come in different kinds as well. They are made of aluminum, copper, tin or even stainless steel. They either come with or without a handle. These are pliable and inexpensive. They can be washed and need to be dried immediately so that they will not catch rust. The stainless steel ones are preferred as they do not rust easily and copper is decorative but it the most expensive. Though the advantage of copper cookie cutters is that they are very sturdy and maintain the shape better.

Fondant cutters come in plastics as well and these are the cheapest and therefore most popular. They have soft edges and are easy to store as well as to wash. Though you need to check if they are dish washer safe, else they could warp or melt in the dishwasher.

Birthday cookie cutters come even in 3D varieties and in which embossing is possible with patterns that can be raised. In this the dough is first cut into desired shapes and then baked. Then it is assembled so that standing three dimensional cookies are made.
The unique cookie cutters also include Springerle cookie molds which have the patterns embossed in to the dough.

There are also cookie press which can be used which allow the dough to be pressed out through a cylindrical tube in the shape of the discs which are fitted on to it.
